The Graham campaign has announced Monday morning that Florida icon and singer/songwriter Jimmy Buffett endorsed the Democratic gubernatorial candidate for governor and will play an Aug. 23 Get Out the Vote Rally in South Florida.

“Like her Dad, Gwen will put the interests of everyday Floridians first,” Buffett said in a statement. “She’ll protect our precious natural environment, ensure we have strong public schools and affordable health care.”

Graham said in the statement that the legendary musician has worked with her family for “years to preserve Florida’s natural treasures.”

“It’s been too long since we have had a governor for all the people,” Buffett said. “For that reason, I am supporting my friend, Democrat Gwen Graham, for governor and I encourage y’all to do the same.”

More details will be released about Buffett’s Get Out the Vote Rally – which happens five days before the Aug. 28 primary election.
