Don’t forget: Three Florida Legislative races are cliffhangers and are undergoing recounts

Recount logoWhile recounts in two pivotal Florida races – Florida Governor and U.S. Senate – are garnering state and national attention, don’t forget three of the legislative races that are cliffhangers.

Over the weekend, Secretary of State Ken Detzner ordered machine recounts for each of those three races:

/In State Senate District 18, part of Hillsborough County, Republican candidate Dana Young currently trails Democratic candidate Janet Cruz by 376 votes out of almost 208,000 total;

/In State House District 89, which is part of Palm Beach County, Republican candidate Mike Caruso and Democratic candidate Jim Bonfiglio are separated by 37 votes out of 78,000 votes total. Currently, Caruso is in the lead.

/In State House District 26, which is part of Volusia County, Republican candidate Elizabeth Fetterhoff faces off against Democratic candidate Patrick Henry. As of this writing, Fetterhoff leads Henry by 59 votes out of 61,000 votes total.

The results of the recounts and the second set of unofficial returns are due to the Division of Elections by 3 p.m. Thursday.
